Arkansas Razorbacks

The Arkansas Razorbacks, also known as the Hogs, are the names of college sports teams at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The term Arkansas Razorbacks properly applies to any of the all-male sports team at the university while women's teams at the University of Arkansas are generally referred to as "The Lady'Backs". The Razorbacks take their name from the feral pig of the same name. The University of Arkansas student body voted to change the name of the school mascot (originally the Cardinals) in 1910 to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Since the Razorback name was already in use by the Texarkana Arkansas High School Razorbacks, the University agreed to 'use' the Razorback logo as their mascot; In turn, giving Arkansas High School used athletic equipment from the university. The Arkansas Razorbacks are the only major sports team in the US with a porcine nickname.

The Arkansas Razorbacks compete in the NCAA's Division I (I-A in football) and is currently a member of the Southeastern Conference (Western Division).

Bud Walton Arena (also known as the Basketball Palace of Mid-America) is the home to the men's and women's basketball teams of the University of Arkansas, known as the Razorbacks (men) and Lady'Backs (women). It is located on the campus of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas and has a seating capacity of 19,200, which is the fifth largest for an on-campus arena in the United States.

The arena has been the home to the Razorbacks and Lady'Backs since November of 1993; the men's team won the national championship in the arena's first season of operation. The previous arena in which both teams played, Barnhill Arena, was renovated into a volleyball-specific facility and now houses the Lady'Backs volleyball team. Bud Walton Arena has more seats in less space than in any other facility of the same type anywhere in the world.

Barnhill Arena is a 10,000-seat multipurpose arena in Fayetteville, Arkansas, now used primarily for volleyball. The arena opened in 1954 and was home to the University of Arkansas Razorbacks (men's) and Ladybacks (women's) basketball teams before they moved to Bud Walton Arena in 1993. Prior to that, the arena had been considered to be one of the toughest to play in, first in the Southwestern Conference and then in the Southeastern Conference, especially when Nolan Richardson was coach, it earned the nickname "Barnhell Arena" because of its' ravenous student section. After the opening of the new arena, the university converted Barnhill Arena into a volleyball and gymnastics-specific facility, and the Ladybacks' volleyball and gymnastics teams have played there ever since. The arena is also occasionally used for special events, such as concerts, graduations, and speakers.
