Arkansas County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of the 2000 census, the population was 20,749. The county has two county seats, De Witt and Stuttgart. The first of the state's 75 present-day counties to be created, Arkansas County was formed on 13 December 1813 and is named after the Arkansa Indian tribe.
Stuttgart is the county seat of the northern district of Arkansas County, Arkansas. It is located on U.S. Highway 79 about 70 miles southeast of Little Rock. According to 2006 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 9,376.
The company was founded in 1921. It has 1900 employees who store, transport, process, and market rice, soybeans, and wheat produced by its 9,000 members who are farmers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Texas.
According to a Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis article[1], Riceland is responsible for almost one-third of the U.S. rice crop.
